Katihar, 09
Nov (HS): Voting will take place in six assembly constituencies of the Katihar
parliamentary constituency in Bihar's Seemanchal region on November 11. The NDA
is relying on women to win these seats in the Muslim-dominated Seemanchal
region.
Situated in
the foothills of the Kosi and Mahananda rivers, Katihar's land is extremely
fertile, but floods are also a common occurrence every year. Pranpur, a constituency
in this region, could set a precedent for other constituencies. In 2020, BJP's
Nisha Singh defeated Congress's Tauqeer Alam by a narrow margin. This time, the
BJP is relying on its strong organization, core vote bank, and the candidate's
personal influence, as well as its work for women, to retain its seat.
According to Neeraj Shekhar, Rajya Sabha MP from Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, women
are more likely to favor the NDA this time than in 2020. Neeraj Shekhar
explains this by saying, I have visited several constituencies in Magadh
and Shahabad, where the liquor ban and the recent Rs. 10,000 transfer to
accounts have shown a significant shift in women's support.
If BJP leader
Neeraj Shekhar's predictions prove true on November 11th, the NDA in Seemanchal
could gain overwhelming Muslim vote share of women. Neeraj Shekhar came to
campaign on Sunday in the Pranpur assembly seat, which falls under the Katihar
parliamentary constituency. This constituency has 47 percent Muslim voters.
It's worth noting that in 2024, Congress' Tariq Anwar won from Katihar by
defeating JDU's Dulal Chandra Goswami by 11,383 votes.
Neeraj Shekhar said that
in the Bihar assembly elections, he called on people to vote in large numbers
at a massive public meeting held in support of NDA candidate Nisha Singh at
Rosna Hat Maidan in the Pranpur assembly constituency on Sunday. The
enthusiasm, passion, and excitement of the crowd at this rally made it clear
that Nisha Singh was going to win a historic victory.
