Kharagpur, 9 November (H.S.):

Panic gripped Balichak railway station under Kharagpur Division on Sunday morning after a freight train engine rammed into the platform. As per information, while entering loop line number 5 of the down line, the freight train's engine and two bogies hit the platform and moved forward. The loud noise caused a commotion among the passengers on the platform. At that time, work was going on in the station premises. They also panicked. Railway officials reached the spot after on information. An investigation is underway find out why such an incident happened even though the freight train did not derail.

For nearly an hour, railway staff worked to remove the engine and wagons by dismantling part of the damaged platform. The situation was brought under control, and no casualties were reported.
