
Hooghly, 9 November (H.S.): A four-year-old girl was kidnapped and sexually assaulted in Tarakeswar in Hooghly district. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
On Saturday, the blood-soaked girl was recovered from a drain near Tarakeswar station. The girl's family claimed that she had been missing since morning. The girl was taken to Tarakeswar Rural Hospital. However, she was discharged after first aid. The family alleged that she was sexually assaulted. The police said that an investigation has been initiated following a verbal complaint from the girl's family. Arrangements have been made for a medical examination of the girl. Tarakeswar police has assured that necessary action will be taken after a thorough investigation. Following this incident, BJP workers in the area have launched protests.
Tarakeswar MLA Ramendu Singh Roy said, This is a very sad incident. The area where this incident occurred is under the jurisdiction of the Railway Police. I feel there is a lack of security by the Railway Police. We are with the victim girl and her family.
