Kolkata, 9 November (H.S.):

A transformer caught fire in CESC office in Chandni Chowk area of Kolkata on Sunday morning. The fire caused an explosion, creating panic in the area. As per information, the transformer suddenly caught fire at around 7.10 am on Sunday. Soon after that, an explosion was heard.

On information, four fire engines rushed to the spot. The fire was brought under control after an hour of efforts by the fire brigade. It is still not clear how the transformer caught fire. Locals said that the fire was brought under control quickly. Otherwise, a major disaster could have occurred.
