
Bhubaneswar, 9 November (H.S.): Odisha’s picturesque hill station Daringbadi, often referred to as the “Kashmir of Odisha,” has turned into a winter hotspot as temperatures continue to plunge. The mercury dropped to 11°C on Saturday, marking the lowest temperature recorded in the state so far this season.
The temperature in Daringbadi has steadily fallen from 15°C on November 1 to 11°C today, indicating the onset of a cold wave in the region. The chilly weather has drawn a surge of tourists eager to experience the hill station’s scenic beauty and cool climate.
Locals have already switched to winter clothing, while shops selling woollens and hot beverages are witnessing brisk business. Youngsters and fitness enthusiasts are taking advantage of the pleasant mornings for walks and outdoor exercises.
The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast that night temperatures are likely to drop further across interior Odisha. Phulbani and Koraput are expected to record around 12°C, while Sundargarh, Rourkela, Keonjhargarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal may hover near 16°C.
Current temperature readings show Phulbani at 14°C, Koraput at 15.4°C, Rourkela at 16.2°C, Jharsuguda and Keonjhar at 16.8°C, Dhenkanal at 17°C, Angul at 17.8°C, Nabarangpur at 18.5°C, and Sundargarh at 18.6°C. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have also witnessed a noticeable dip in night temperatures, signalling the gradual arrival of winter across the state.
