Chennai, 9 November (H.S.) : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president, M. K. Stalin, has directed his party members to ensure that not a single eligible voter is missed during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state.

The Chief Minister stressed the critical nature of the exercise during a virtual interaction with the ruling party's district secretaries and constituency in-charges, held at the DMK headquarters in Anna Arivalayam.

The directive follows Mr. Stalin’s observation from his public interactions that there was an inadequate level of awareness regarding the SIR process among the people. Compounding the issue, he noted that citizens reported that even polling officials, such as the Booth Level Officers, did not fully comprehend the revision procedures themselves, necessitating greater vigilance from the party cadre.

Chairing the video conference meeting, the DMK president issued a clear mandate, stating that not even a single eligible voter's name should be left out in the SIR campaign, while also ensuring that the names of ineligible voters are not included in the list. The party has previously expressed its opposition to the timing of the month-long revision drive, as it is being implemented during the current Northeast Monsoon period.

According to updates from party sources, the President specifically instructed the DMK’s booth-level agents to remain extremely vigilant and verify that the application forms are being distributed to the public with a proper explanation of the SIR process.
