New Delhi, 8 November (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended birthday greetings to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister wished for his long and healthy life.

The Chief Minister, born on November 8, 1969, turned 56.

A Look at Revanth Reddy's Political Journey

Anumula Revanth Reddy's political career has been marked by a dynamic rise through the ranks of several political parties . He began his journey as a member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) during his student days.

Reddy first entered electoral politics in 2006, winning a Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) seat as an independent candidate .His political career took a significant turn in 2007 when he was elected as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) as an independent. He later joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Kodangal constituency in 2009 and again in 2014.

He served as the floor leader for the TDP in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.In 2017, Reddy made a crucial shift to the Indian National Congress . Though he lost the 2018 Assembly election from Kodangal, he was appointed as one of the working presidents of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). He made a strong comeback in the 2019 general elections, winning the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat.

Ascension to Chief Minister

In July 2021, Revanth Reddy was appointed the president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee. He led the party to a historic victory in the 2023 Telangana Legislative Assembly election, unseating the incumbent Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government.

On December 7, 2023, he was sworn in as the second Chief Minister of Telangana . His first year in office has been noted for the implementation of a significant crop loan waiver program and for maintaining political stability by securing support from various factions .
