
Varanasi/New Delhi, 8 November (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Saturday that trains like the Vande Bharat, Namo Bharat, and Amrit Bharat are laying the foundation for the next generation of Indian Railways. Speaking at an event in Varanasi where he flagged off four new Vande Bharat Express trains, the Prime Minister emphasized that these services are part of a larger campaign to transform the country's railway system.
Vande Bharat is a train made by Indians, for Indians, and it is a matter of pride for every Indian, he remarked. The Prime Minister addressed a public rally after inaugurating the new services on the Banaras-Khajuraho, Lucknow-Saharanpur, Firozpur-Delhi, and Ernakulam-Bengaluru routes.
In his address, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the crucial role of infrastructure in the economic development of advanced nations, stating that India is also rapidly progressing on this path. He asserted that the new trains will be a milestone in the nation's mission to create superior resources for a developed India.
Pilgrimages in India have for centuries been considered a medium for the nation's consciousness, the Prime Minister said. He explained that these journeys are not just about visiting deities but are a sacred tradition that connects the soul of India . He noted that connecting sacred sites like Prayagraj, Ayodhya, and Khajuraho through the Vande Bharat network serves to unite India's culture, faith, and development.
The Prime Minister also spoke about the significant improvements in health facilities in Varanasi over the past decade. He recalled a time when accessing treatment for serious illnesses was difficult, but now, with the establishment of facilities like the Mahamana Cancer Hospital, the region has seen substantial progress in healthcare.
