Raigad, 08 Nov (HS): The slab of waiting room and

near canteen at the Alibag State Transport Bust Stand collapsed on Friday

evening. Fortunately no one was injured.

The bus stand building was constructed in 1961 and

was awaiting renovation. The construction of new building is pending for the

last six months after its bhoomipujan was performed on August 28, 2019. The

construction work never started after the ground breaking ceremony.

Leaking roof, frequent collapse of cement plaster,

cracks in walls were temporarily repaired. The passengers in the crowded bus

stand enter the building with fear of losing their lives.

The travellers’ organisation and the villagers have

demanded immediate action to start construction of the planned new bus stand

building.
