(HS): The Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti under its Mission 2027, has resolved to
procure separate statehood status for Vidarbha before the end of the year 2027.
The historical resolution was declared by the Committee in its meeting.
The Committee
and other supporters of the 120 year old demand of separate Vidarbha State, and
the issues of the Vidarbha region are being neglected. The region merged with
the Maharashtra State in 1960. With the mounting debt and increasing gap
between the revenue generated, loan on the state and interest on it indicate
that development of the region in Maharashtra is impossible even if Brahmadev
(God) is made the chief minister. The state’s revenue if Rs 5,60,000 crore,
while the state is shouldering burden of Rs 9,83,000 crore as loan. The PWD,
Public Health, Water Resources, Rural and Urban Development Departments are Rs
95,000 crore of unpaid bills, renowned economist and executive members of the
Committee Dr Shrinivas Khandewale said.
The Committee
has organised a rally to inform people about the problems of the region and the
state’s economy at Nagpur’ Chitnis Park on December 16. The movement is getting
support from various parts of the region, including tribal belts in Melghat and
Gadchiroli. The rally is being organised to awaken the people of Vidarbha and
to generate support for the movemen.
Besides Dr
Khandewale, Ex-MLA and Chairman of the Committee Wamanrao Chatap, Women’s Wing
Chief Ranjana Mamarde, Youth Wing Chief Mukesh Masurkar and others were present
at the Committee’s meeting.
