Prayagraj, 04 Nov (HS): The holy city of Prayagraj was enveloped

in divine serenity as Swami Abhedanandaji, Head Acharya of Chinmaya Mission,

Durban (South Africa), inaugurated the seven-day Gyan Yagya on Bharat Charitra

from Ramcharitmanas. The first day’s discourse set a deeply inspiring tone for

the spiritual series, touching hearts and awakening minds. The sacred event

commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Swami Abhedanandaji,

amidst the melodious chanting of verses from the scriptures. The programme was

compered by Vineeta Singh, who warmly welcomed Swamiji and offered an eloquent

introduction.

With deep reverence, Swamiji began the session by chanting shlokas

depicting Bharat’s love and devotion for Lord Rama.. His serene voice and

radiant presence transported the audience into a state of peace and

contemplation.

In his profound discourse, Swamiji elaborated on the eternal

essence of Dharma, Bhakti, and Tyag—the cornerstones of Ram Rajya. He

emphasized that true happiness lies not in material wealth but in inner peace

and detachment, reminding all that riches may provide comfort but never true

happiness. Citing the examples of Ravana and Kansa, Swamiji explained how ego

and attachment become the root causes of human sorrow.

Drawing lessons from the lives of King Dashrath, Kaikeyi, and

Manthara, he illustrated how attachment, sense of separateness and over

ambition can cloud judgment and disrupt harmony. Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he

said, “If you do not learn to give, life will take it away.” He urged the

devotees to offer every action at the feet of the Divine, transforming daily

life into a sacred act of surrender. The discourse concluded on a note of reflection

and devotion, leaving the gathering spiritually enriched and eager for the sessions

to follow till November 9.
