Bhubaneswar, 3 November (H.S.): Odisha Vigilance on Monday arrested two employees of the Community Health Centre (CHC), Barpali, in Bargarh district for allegedly accepting a ₹7,000 bribe through PhonePe from a colleague to process his arrear salary.
The accused have been identified as Sekhar Chandra Sahu, Accountant, and Tamanna Sahu, Peon. According to sources, the complainant, a Multi-Purpose Male Health Worker (MPMHW), had been requesting the Accountant for three months to clear his increment, MACP, and arrear salary. The duo allegedly demanded ₹7,000 to move the file.
Following a complaint, Vigilance officials from Sambalpur Division laid a trap and caught them red-handed while taking the bribe digitally. When the transfer to the Accountant’s account failed, the amount was sent to Tamanna Sahu’s PhonePe account as directed.
Both accused were apprehended, and their mobile phones seized. Searches are underway at three locations linked to the Accountant.
A case (Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No. 22/2025) has been registered under Sections 7/12 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigation is ongoing.
