Kolkata, 03 November (H.S.). The West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) is set to publish a list of around 3,500 ‘tainted’ non-teaching staff working in state-run and state-aided schools, a senior SSC official said on Monday. These individuals are among the more than 26,000 whose appointments were declared invalid by the Supreme Court earlier this year.
On April 03, 2025, the apex court struck down the appointments of 25,753 teaching and non-teaching staff recruited through the 2016 process, describing the entire selection exercise as “vitiated and tainted”.
According to the Commission, those whose involvement in irregularities has been proven are categorized as ‘tainted’.
Following the Supreme Court’s directive, SSC has already uploaded lists of more than 15,000 tainted teachers on its website. However, the official list of tainted non-teaching staff had not been released yet, and the official said the process is now in its final stage.
“We are preparing to upload the names on the official website as directed,” the senior officer confirmed, adding that publication is expected shortly.
