DMK is our political enemy and BJP our ideological enemy, says TVK's Veera Vignesh

Chennai, 3 November (H.S.) : Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) Spokesperson Veera Vignesh on Monday provided a clear definition of his party's opponents, stating that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is the party's political enemy while the BJP is its ideological enemy. He made these remarks while confirming his party's opposition to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu.

Vignesh criticized the DMK government for convening an all-party meeting on Sunday to discuss the SIR process, dismissing it as purely a DMK alliance meeting with a purely political motive intended to divert public attention away from the ruling party's alleged corruption. He asserted that TVK would not fall into this trap and would instead focus on exposing the corrupt and dynastic DMK model to the people of Tamil Nadu, predicting that they would end this monarchy in 2026.

Despite the TVK's condemnation of the DMK's motives for the meeting, the party is fundamentally opposed to the SIR exercise. Vignesh claimed that the TVK was the first party to raise its voice against the SIR in Tamil Nadu, with its leader expressing displeasure early on. He warned that the hasty implementation of the SIR—as was allegedly seen in Bihar, where lakhs of voters were removed from the rolls—is a dangerous move.

Meanwhile, the all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Sunday decided to move the Supreme Court against the second phase of the SIR process. Mr. Stalin announced the resolution on social media platform X, alleging that the ECI's intent is to snatch away voting rights and murder democracy.

He noted that since the demand to conduct the revisions after the 2026 general elections with adequate time was not accepted by the ECI, the legal route was necessary. Stalin also publicly thanked the 49 parties that participated in the meeting to protect democracy.
