
Hooghly, 26 November (H.S.): Train movement on Howrah-Tarkeshwar branch line was disrupted on Wednesday morning due to a major technical glitch. The pantograph of the 37314 down Tarakeswar-Howrah local train suddenly broke between Nalikul and Kamarkundu stations, causing significant inconvenience to passengers.
As per information,.the incident occurred around 6:30 am. After the pantograph broke, the local train stopped mid-air and remained there for approximately two hours. Trains continued to run on the up line, but services on the down line were completely disrupted. Many passengers remained trapped inside the train, unable to get off or proceed further. Some were forced to disembark onto the tracks and walk towards the station.
Railway employees immediately arrived at the scene and began repair work. Diptimay Dutta, Chief Public Relations Officer of Eastern Railway, said, Traffic was disrupted around 6:30 am due to the breakdown of the pantograph of a local train. Our team immediately began work, and train services were restored to normal at 8:26 am.
Office-bound passengers said that this early morning problem disrupted their entire schedule. There was no option to get off the train, nor was there any hope of reaching their destination on time. Many complained that the delay was affecting their jobs and important work.
Following the incident, the Railways has initiated a technical investigation to determine the cause of the broken pantograph.
