26 Nov (HS): Warner College of Dairy Technology organized the National Milk Day
program on 26 November 2025 under the Society of Food and Dairy Technology.
This day is celebrated as a tribute of the invaluable contribution of Dr.
Verghese Kurien, the “Milkman of India” and the Father of the White Revolution.
The theme of the program was “Let's Celebrate the Power of Dairy.”

Vajpayee (MLA) was welcomed as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Dr. Jonathan A. Lal,
Pro Vice-Chancellor, graced the event as the Guest of Honour. Various
government officials and industry experts—Er. Akhilendra Mishra, Er. Rajesh
Kumar Prajapati, Er. Suresh Kumar Singh, Er. Alok Mani Mishra, and Er. Akash
Jaiswal—were also present as guest speakers. The program was organized under
the leadership of Dean Dr. Alok Milton, Associate Dean Dr. SGM Prasad, Head of
the Dairy Technology Department Dr. Avinash Singh, and the entire staff of
WCDT. The event was managed by Dr. Ankita Gautam, Assistant Professor,
Department of Dairy Microbiology. Other faculty members present included Dr.
Puneet Arora, Dr. SN Thakur, Dr. Shanta Peter, and Er. Ankur Ramola.
In
his address, Dr. Jonathan Lal (Pro Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs) reflected
on the rich heritage of the modern dairy plant. He shared that eminent national
leaders such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and
Shankar Dayal Sharma used to visit the SHUATS dairy plant to enjoy its ice
cream.
Dr.
Alok Milton, Dean of Warner College of Food and Dairy Technology, emphasized
that milk is a complete food with no substitute. He also highlighted the
significant contribution of the dairy sector to women's empowerment by
providing essential livelihood opportunities.
MLA
Harshvardhan Vajpayee stressed the importance of strengthening rural
development as a key to empowering women. He praised the rich legacy of SHUATS
and acknowledged the contribution of Warner College of Dairy Technology. He
encouraged renewed efforts to revive Parag and further noted that while
technology and infrastructure are progressing rapidly, sustainable development
has not received the attention it deserves.
After
the academic session, the department organized Food and Dairy Food Stalls,
Poster Presentations, Rangoli competitions, and a Quiz for students of the
college and university. These activities were conducted under the supervision
of Dr. Amit, Dr. Jayanath Jakariya, Dr. Puneet Arora, Dr. SN Thakur, and Dr.
Ankita Gautam. Overall, the program was successfully conducted with the support
of all staff and students of Warner College of Dairy Technology.
