Darrang (Assam), 26 November (HS): Kharupetia Police have arrested a man identified as Munser Ali from West Kamarpora village under Khairapetia Police Station on charges of maintaining alleged links with international jihadi organisations.

According to police, Ali is suspected to have been in contact with the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and Tahrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Officials said that Ali had recently returned to Kharupetia from Tamil Nadu, where he was employed. Investigations suggest that he allegedly maintained connections with Bangladeshi extremist elements through social media and was reportedly planning subversive activities at multiple locations across the state.

Police have registered a case (Kharupetia PS Case No. 134/2025) against him under Sections 147/148/152/196 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of Section 39(2) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.---------
