Delhi, 26 November (H.S.): India and Slovenia reinforced their commitment to deepening economic ties on Wednesday during a high-level summit in New Delhi, aiming to chart a strategic roadmap for future trade and investment. The 10th Session of the India–Slovenia Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation (JCTEC) served as a pivotal forum to assess the current state of their burgeoning partnership.

The meeting was co-chaired by Saket Kumar, Joint Secretary in India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Mr. Peter Japelj, Director General for Economic, Cultural and Scientific Diplomacy at Slovenia's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

Both officials led comprehensive discussions reviewing the robust and consistent upward trajectory of bilateral trade, which has grown significantly in recent years.

Delegates highlighted Slovenia's strategic location at the crossroads of Central Europe as a unique opportunity to enhance connectivity between the two regions. The session explored sectoral cooperation across diverse fields, including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, health, transport, energy, and tourism.

Both nations also reiterated their strong support for the expeditious conclusion of a balanced India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

During his visit, Japelj also met with India's Commerce Secretary, Shri Rajesh Agrawal, to further deliberate on strengthening bilateral cooperation. The summit concluded by reaffirming a mutual commitment to fostering a dynamic economic partnership built on shared values and trust, laying a solid groundwork for future collaboration between India and Europe.
