Kolkata, 26 November(H.S.): West Bengal has recorded a remarkable achievement in the tourism sector, emerging as the second most preferred destination for foreign tourists in India. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee shared the news on Wednesday through a post on X (formerly Twitter), citing the latest India Tourism Data Compendium 2025 released by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

She said, In the recently released India Tourism Data Compendium 2025 by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India , West Bengal has attracted 2nd highest foreign tourist footfall in the country! The tourism resurgence post covid is a reflection of the initiatives taken by us to create and promote new verticals of tourism including festival tourism, religious tourism, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism among others.

I welcome all tourists both domestic and foreign to visit West Bengal, the sweetest part of India, and experience its beauty, culture and heritage, she added.

Mamata Banerjee thanked all stakeholders in the tourism industry for this achievement and wrote that West Bengal has achieved this distinction due to their hard work and continuous efforts.
