
South 24 Paragnas, 25 November (H.S.): The hanging body of a married woman was recovered at in Napitkhali village in Kultali in South 24 Paragnas district on Tuesday morning. The deceased woman has been identified as Arpita Haldar.
According to police and family, Arpita had fled to Odisha with her lover a few days ago. Her father and in-laws launched a search for her and eventually brought her back home from Odisha. She returned to her in-laws' home about a week ago.
Notaby, Arpita was married to Nand Haldar, a resident of Napitkhali village, four years ago. The couple has two young children. Arpita's parents live in Bakultala police station area. There had been considerable tension between the couple recently over an extramarital affair.
On Tuesday morning, Arpita's younger daughter found her mother hanging from a noose in the room. Hearing his screams, family members arrived and immediately rushed him to Kultali Block Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The police have registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body for autopsy.
