New Delhi, 25 November (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kurukshetra on Tuesday for a historic visit, leading a commemorative programme dedicated to the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the revered ninth Sikh Guru widely honoured as Hind Di Chadar.

The Prime Minister’s itinerary reflected a deep homage to India’s spiritual heritage and an emphasis on the nation’s collective memory.

Monumental Inaugurations and Cultural Homage

At around 4:00 PM, PM Modi inaugurated the newly constructed ‘Panchjanya’, a monumental installation honouring the legendary conch shell associated with Lord Krishna. The unveiling of the structure serves as a tribute to the enduring symbol of virtue and righteousness from the Mahabharata, further underlining the city’s unique ties to India’s epic narratives.

The Prime Minister then toured the Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra, an immersive experiential centre at Jyotisar, bringing to life significant episodes from the Mahabharata and showcasing the epic’s deep-seated cultural and spiritual legacy.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Diwas Observance

By 4:30 PM, Modi joined a special congregation commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister released a special coin and a commemorative postal stamp, underlining the government’s year-long tributes to this Sikh luminary’s indomitable commitment to justice, unity, and religious freedom.

Addressing devotees and dignitaries, PM Modi invoked Guru Tegh Bahadur’s immortal message of self-sacrifice for universal brotherhood and protection of human rights, affirming India’s respect for pluralism and its timeless values.

Sacred Rituals and Spiritual Fellowship

As evening approached, the Prime Minister carried out darshan and pooja at Brahma Sarovar, one of India’s hallowed sites believed to be connected to the divine revelation of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita. This visit was timed with the ongoing International Gita Mahotsav, a global confluence of spiritual festivities running from November 15 through December 5, drawing thousands to Kurukshetra’s sacred environs for prayers, recitations, and cultural events.

The confluence of these festivities highlighted Kurukshetra’s enduring legacy as a confluence of India’s spiritual, cultural, and national consciousness.
