
Malda, 25 November (H.S.): Tension gripped Malda district once again after the bullet-ridden body of a Trinamool Congress worker was recovered from a mango orchard on Tuesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Obaidullah Khan, a resident of the College Mod Bathan area under Kaliachak police station.
According to the police and family, he had been missing since Monday night. On Tuesday morning, his blood-soaked, bullet-ridden body was recovered from a mango orchard in the Katagar area under Englishbazar police station. His motorcycle was also found nearby.
Obaidullah, a coal trader by profession, was a resident of the College Mod Bathan area of the Kaliachak police station. The family reported that he left home on his bike around 4 pm on Monday evening, but had not returned even after several hours. His phone was constantly switched off. Late that night, the family filed a missing report at Kaliachak police station.
On Tuesday morning, locals noticed his blood-soaked body in a mango orchard and informed the police. The police arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it for autopsy.
The family alleged that Obaidullah was shot and killed. However, the motive for the murder is currently unclear.
The police initially suspect a business dispute may be behind the murder. However, an investigation is underway to determine whether the incident has any political ties.
On information, MLA Sabina Yasmin rushed to the hospital. She said, We have received information that he has a serious injury on the back of his head. The cause of the injury is being investigated. A criminal is a criminal; he has no political background.
Recently, a Trinamool Congress worker was murdered with a sharp-edged weapon in the Mahidpur area of Englishbazar after cutting off his electricity connection. Now, the murder of another Trinamool Congress worker has raised concerns in the area.
The police are investigating all aspects of the case.
