Guwahati, 24 November (HS): A young woman journalist was found dead by suicide at her workplace in the Christian Basti area of Guwahati, police said on Monday. The incident took place inside the office of a private news portal located in Christian Basti, prompting immediate police intervention after they were alerted to the discovery.

According to officials, the police team reached the site and took the body into custody before sending it to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The deceased journalist, identified as Ritumoni, worked at a private portal situated in Purvodoy Bhawan in Christian Basti. She was slated to get married on December 5. The reason behind her taking her life barely ten days before her wedding remains unclear.

Police said they have recovered a suicide note written by the journalist and are examining its contents to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident. A case has been registered and a detailed investigation is underway.-------------
