
Delhi, 24 November (H.S.): An Indian delegation led by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju departed for Bhutan on Monday to bring back the sacred relics of Lord Buddha. The exposition of these holy relics, which have been on display in Thimphu, is scheduled to conclude on November 25.
In a post on X this morning, Minister Rijiju shared images and announced his departure. I am leaving for Bhutan today. I will lead the delegation accompanying the return of the sacred relics of Lord Buddha, he wrote. The relics, which are enshrined at the National Museum in New Delhi, were sent to Bhutan for public veneration.
Rijiju emphasized the cultural significance of the event, stating, Departing for Bhutan for the return of the sacred relics of Lord Buddha. This symbolizes the shared heritage and deep cultural ties between India and Bhutan.
The exposition was a special gesture from India to honor the 70th birth anniversary of Bhutan's Fourth King and coincided with a Global Peace Prayer Festival organized by the Royal Government of Bhutan.
