Imphal, 24 November (HS): In two swift anti-narcotics operations carried out in last 24, security personnel apprehended two suspected drug peddlers from different districts of Manipur, recovering heroin and opium in significant quantities.

In the first incident, forces intercepted Sheikh Basir Ahamad of Lilong Nungei in Thoubal district at the Moirang Police Station gate checkpoint in Bishnupur district. During the search, authorities recovered three soap cases filled with heroin powder, weighing around 74 grams.

In another coordinated action the same day, security teams arrested 43-year-old Lunkhohao Kipgen, the Chief of Gunphaibung village under Saikul Police Station. He was detained at Bongmoul village in Kangpokpi district. Officials said 986 grams of opium along with a mobile phone were seized from his possession.

Both accused have been taken into custody and further investigations are underway to trace the supply network behind the contraband.--------
