Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday paid heartfelt tribute to the legendary Ahom general Lachit Borphukan on his birth anniversary, describing him as the embodiment of “indomitable courage, valour and heritage” for every Assamese.

Dr. Sarma said Lachit Borphukan’s spirit flows through the veins of every Assamese and continues to guide generations with his unmatched bravery and leadership. He added that on the occasion of Lachit Divas, the people of Assam bow in deep reverence to the great warrior who safeguarded the dignity of the nation.

The Chief Minister further said that the state government has been taking steps to honour Lachit Borphukan's enduring legacy by establishing institutions in his name, including a police academy, a memorial, curriculum inclusion in schools and world-class training centres. He noted that the heroic legacy of Lachit Borphukan continues to inspire younger generations to uphold courage, patriotism and integrity.--------
