Kollam,24 Nov (H.S.): In a shocking incident late Sunday night, a 46-year-old woman was allegedly bludgeoned to death by her husband using an LPG cylinder at their residence in Karikkod. The victim, Kavitha, was found lying in a pool of blood when the police arrived at the house around 11 pm.

According to the police, the accused, 54-year-old Madusoodanan Pillai, called the authorities himself moments after the brutal attack. He reportedly confessed that he struck his wife multiple times on the head with the cylinder during a violent outburst. Kavitha died on the spot due to severe head injuries.

While Pillai has not revealed a clear motive for the murder, investigators suspect that a heated domestic dispute escalated fatally. Preliminary information suggests that marital discord had been ongoing, and officers said they are probing whether frequent quarrels played a role in the crime.

Police officials also noted that Pillai is a habitual drinker and was undergoing treatment for depression. They are examining whether his mental health condition and alleged alcohol abuse contributed to the violent behaviour. The accused has been taken into custody, and forensic experts are conducting a detailed examination of the crime scene.

Kollam police have launched a comprehensive investigation, including questioning neighbours and relatives to understand the events leading to the incident. The body has been shifted for post-mortem, and further legal action is underway. Authorities described the case as a “deeply disturbing domestic violence incident” and assured that all angles will be thoroughly investigated.
