BOLOGNA, 24 November (H.S.): Italy cemented its place in tennis history on Sunday, clinching its third consecutive Davis Cup title with a dramatic 2-0 victory over Spain in front of a jubilant home crowd. The triumph marks Italy's fourth Davis Cup championship overall and makes them the first nation to win three straight titles since the United States accomplished the feat between 1968 and 1972.

The victory was sealed by clutch performances from Matteo Berrettini and a stunning comeback by Flavio Cobolli, who stepped up in the absence of top-ranked players Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti. Berrettini set the tone for the day, delivering a powerful performance to defeat Pablo Carreño Busta 6-3, 6-4.

This marked Berrettini's 11th consecutive singles win in the competition.The championship was secured in the second singles match, where Flavio Cobolli mounted a spectacular rally against Jaume Munar. After dropping the first set 1-6, Cobolli fought back to win a tense second-set tiebreak and ultimately triumphed 1-6, 7-6(5), 7-5, sparking euphoric celebrations.

Today I just played with my heart and I am a world champion, an emotional Cobolli said after the match.Italian team captain Filippo Volandri was moved to tears by the victory. This is a huge team—Sinner, Musetti, Arnaldi are all part of it, he said, emphasizing the collective effort behind the historic win.

The achievement also drew praise from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who celebrated the team's tenacity, talent, and passion.
