Delhi, 24 November (H.S.):

India is poised to make its historic debut at the WorldSkills Asia Competition, with Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, flagging off the nation's 23-member contingent in a formal ceremony on Monday.

The highly skilled team will represent India in 21 categories at the prestigious event, scheduled to take place in Chinese Taipei from November 27-29.This marks India's inaugural participation in the continental competition, which will see over 500 competitors from nearly 40 countries vying for top honours across 38 skills.

Speaking at the send-off, Minister Chaudhary stated that the young competitors embody India’s rising strength as a global skills leader and are central to the vision of making India the Skill Capital of the World.The Indian contingent, led by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), features national champions selected through the rigorous IndiaSkills Competition 2024.

These competitors will showcase their expertise in a diverse range of fields, including new-age technologies like Mobile Robotics, Mechatronics, and Web Development, as well as traditional skills such as Automotive Repair, Fashion Technology, and Beauty Therapy.

In her address, Ms. Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, called the nation's first-ever participation a significant milestone in its skilling journey. She noted that the ministry's sustained efforts have enabled the competitors to meet global benchmarks.To ensure peak performance, the competitors have undergone five months of intensive, industry-guided training with leading partners such as Toyota Kirloskar Motor, JK Cement, and Mahindra University.

This was supplemented by a final four-day readiness program designed to build technical confidence and mental resilience through psychometric assessments, neurotherapy, and mindfulness practices.
