South 24 Paragnas, 24 November (H.S.): The discovery of a human skeleton in a paddy field in the Rajapur-Karabeg Gram Panchayat area near Batra, under Jaynagar police station area of South 24 Parganas district on Monday created panic in the area. Locals on a morning walk first spotted the skeleton and immediately informed the police. The police from Jaynagar police station arrived at the scene, recovered the skeleton, and sent it to the Padmerhat Rural Hospital for postmortem.

The police stated that the skeleton belonged to a male. Clothes were also found nearby, which have been preserved for examination. Officers from Jaynagar and Bakultala police stations are conducting a joint investigation to determine the identity of the deceased.

The police said that the truth will only be revealed after the postmortem report and the reports of necessary scientific investigations are received.
