
Delhi, 24 November (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday led the nation in mourning the passing of legendary actor Dharmendra, hailing him as an iconic film personality and stating his death marked the end of an era in Indian cinema. The veteran actor, popularly known as the 'He-Man' of Bollywood, passed away at the age of 89 following a recent illness.
In a heartfelt post on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the actor's immense contribution to the film industry. He was a phenomenal actor who brought charm and depth to every role he played, PM Modi wrote . The manner in which he played diverse roles struck a chord with countless people.
Dharmendra's career spanned over six decades and included roles in some of Indian cinema's most celebrated films. From his unforgettable portrayal of Veeru in the classic Sholay (1975) to his acclaimed dramatic performance in Satyakam (1969), his work left an indelible mark on generations of moviegoers.
Beyond his on-screen presence, the Prime Minister also remembered the actor for his personal virtues. Dharmendra Ji was equally admired for his simplicity, humility and warmth, the post continued.
