24 Nov (HS): A 25-year-old man died after being struck by a speeding vehicle

moments before an important wedding ritual in Baghpat district, authorities

said on Monday. Subodh,

a physiotherapist from Pichhokra village, came at Sarurpurkalan village with

his bridal procession on Sunday night when his health abruptly deteriorated,

according to reports.

According

to the police, just before the chadhat ritual began, he moved away

to vomit on the Delhi-Saharanpur national highway. According to authorities, he

was hit by a speeding truck from the Delhi side while standing on the road.

The

seriously injured groom was being transported to the district hospital by

family and wedding party members when he died on the way, according to police,

who added that the truck driver left the scene with the vehicle. Baghpat

Kotwali in charge, Dixit Tyagi stated that CCTV video from the vicinity was

being studied to identify the vehicle, and that attempts were being made to

locate the absconding driver.
