Delhi, 24 November (H.S.): The wedding ceremony of Indian cricket vice-captain Smriti Mandhana was indefinitely postponed on Sunday after a pair of sudden health emergencies involving her father and fiancé required both men to be hospitalized.

The joyous occasion in Sangli came to an abrupt halt when Mandhana's father, Srinivas Mandhana, experienced a serious medical event at the venue.Shortly before the afternoon ceremony, Mr. Mandhana developed severe chest-pain symptoms consistent with a heart attack and was promptly transported to a local hospital. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Sarvhit Hospital and Clinical Research Centre, where physicians diagnosed him with symptoms of angina pectoris.

While an initial ECG revealed no new critical findings, he remained under close observation due to elevated blood pressure, with further tests scheduled for Monday.Adding to the family's distress, Mandhana’s fiancé, musician Palash Muchhal, was also briefly hospitalized on the same day. His condition deteriorated due to a viral infection and increased acidity.

However, his ailment was not deemed serious, and he was discharged following treatment, returning to his hotel later that evening. In light of the concerning developments, the families have prioritized the health and recovery of Mr. Mandhana. A new date for the highly anticipated wedding will be scheduled once the medical situation has stabilized.
