Delhi, 24 November (H.S.): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday expressed profound grief over the death of legendary actor Dharmendra, remembering him as both a cinematic icon and a former party parliamentarian. Party leaders described his passing as an irreparable loss to Indian cinema and the arts.

BJP National President J.P. Nadda, in a heartfelt message on the social media platform X, stated that the celebrated actor had left an indelible mark on the hearts of cinema lovers with his powerful performances.

With his simplicity and vibrant acting, he ruled the hearts of art lovers in the country and the world for decades, Nadda wrote, extending his condolences to the actor's family and fans.

Recalling Dharmendra's political service, BJP National Spokesperson Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi paid homage to his unprecedented and unforgettable contribution to Indian culture.

Trivedi remembered him as an evergreen hero who represented a purely Indian ethos on screen for nearly three generations and noted that the actor, born Dharam Singh Deol, had also served the nation as a BJP Member of Parliament.

Dharmendra was elected to the 14th Lok Sabha in 2004, representing the Bikaner constituency in Rajasthan for the BJP after a significant electoral victory. Though he later distanced himself from active politics, his tenure is remembered for his efforts in the development of the region, including work on the Sur Sagar lake. The party paid tribute to his dual contributions to both art and public service.
