Guwahati, 23 November (HS): The Special Revision (SR) of the Electoral Roll for the State of Assam, with 01 January 2026 as the qualifying date, has commenced with large-scale House-to-House verification by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from 22 November 2025. A total of 29,656 BLOs have been deployed, covering an equal number of polling stations and verifying details of 2,52,02,775 voters across the state. Political parties have appointed 61,533 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to support the exercise, with instructions issued by the Chief Electoral Officer for full cooperation.

According to officials, the verification is crucial for ensuring accuracy and completeness of the rolls ahead of the 2026 electoral process. The public has been urged to participate actively, especially during the claims and objections period.

The integrated draft electoral roll will be published on 27 December. Claims and objections can be filed from 27 December to 22 January, followed by special campaign days on 3–4 January and 10–11 January. Disposal of claims and objections will be completed by 2 February and the final electoral roll will be published on 10 February 2026.

Officials highlighted that an appeal mechanism is available for citizens dissatisfied with decisions made by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO). Appeals may be filed before the District Magistrate and subsequently before the CEO, Assam, within the prescribed timelines. Citizens have been requested to extend full cooperation to BLOs during House-to-House verification and ensure timely submission of corrections and claims for a transparent and error-free electoral roll.--------
