Prayagraj, 22 Nov (HS): The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Prayagraj, hosted a dynamic Frontline Observation and Monitoring (FOM) program focused on equipping farmers with the tools, inputs, and scientific knowledge necessary for a productive crop season. As part of the initiative, 10 farmers received high-quality seeds, urea, and organic fertilizers—a practical step toward improving soil health and ensuring better yields.
The event was enriched by the presence of distinguished experts, with Dr. Shantanu Dubey of Atari serving as the chief guest. His message to farmers was simple and straightforward: Agriculture, when done wisely and on time, is not just a business – it is a profitable enterprise.
Prominent dignitaries including Dr. Praveen Charan (Director Extension, SHUATS), Dr. Arun Yadav (Coordinator, SHUATS), Dr. Mukesh P. Masih (KVK Head), Dr. Chauhan, Dr. R.P. Singh (Horticulture Scientist), Manoj Tripathi, and Dr. Nimisha Natarajan (Home Scientist, KVK Prayagraj) were also present – each providing valuable insights from their respective fields.
Dr. Dubey highlighted the impressive results of the same trial conducted in Maharajganj district, where farmers saw higher yields and a significant increase in their income after adopting scientific recommendations and crop rotation practices. He emphasized the importance of crop rotation, explaining how a well-planned rotation rejuvenates the soil and stabilizes long-term productivity.
He reiterated that when farmers rely on the technologies and advice provided by KVK scientists, they directly help move the country towards the Prime Minister's vision of doubling farmers' income and strengthening the rural economy.
During the program, he also provided practical guidance on kitchen gardening, highlighting its vital role in improving nutritional security and generating additional household income. He emphasized that even a small plot can make a big difference in rural family welfare.
Together, the insights shared by the experts made one thing crystal clear: India's agricultural progress lies in the fusion of traditional wisdom with scientific precision. When farmers embrace both, prosperity naturally follows.
