New Delhi/Johanessburg , 22 November (H.S.): India, Australia, and Canada today on Saturday announced the formation of a new trilateral technology and innovation partnership designed to deepen collaboration among the three democratic nations.

The Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership was unveiled following a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders' Summit in Johannesburg.

Prime Minister Modi announced the initiative, stating, Had an excellent meeting with Mr. Anthony Albanese, PM of Australia and Mr. Mark Carney, PM of Canada... We are delighted to announce an Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership today.

The partnership marks a significant step in formalizing cooperation on critical and emerging technologies across three continents. The ACITI initiative will focus on several key areas, including the promotion of emerging technologies, the diversification of strategic supply chains, and joint advancements in clean energy.

A major objective of the pact is to support the mass adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in a manner that is secure, ethical, and beneficial to all three societies. This builds upon existing bilateral frameworks, such as the Australia-India Cyber and Critical Technology Partnership.

This new alliance underscores a shared vision among the leaders for a stable and prosperous future. The initiative will deepen collaboration between democratic partners across three continents and three oceans, Prime Minister Modi added, highlighting the global scope of the partnership.

The announcement was a key outcome of Prime Minister Modi's engagements during his three-day visit to South Africa for the G20 Summit, which is being held on the African continent for the first time.
