Abhayapuri, 22 November (HS):
Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday launched the distribution of seed capital to women beneficiaries in Abhayapuri under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA), marking the next phase of the state’s women empowerment initiative after Nalbari.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said he was delighted to roll out the programme in Bongaigaon district, where more than 23,000 women received financial support to kickstart their entrepreneurial journey. Under the scheme, each beneficiary is provided with an initial capital of ₹10,000 to support small-scale income-generating activities.
Dr. Sarma reiterated that the government’s vision is to help women become financially self-reliant and eventually transform into “Lakhpati Baideus,” contributing meaningfully to household and community growth. He assured that the state government will stand by the women at every step of their empowerment journey.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that the MMUA initiative aims to uplift around 40 lakh families across Assam, strengthening the socio-economic foundation of the state by enabling women to lead change within their communities.---------
