
Gorakhpur, 21 Nov (HS): The Prof. Yashwantrao
Kelkar Youth Award, presented annually at the 71st National Convention of the
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) to be held in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand,
will be given on November 30, in which the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar
Singh Dhami, will be present as the chief guest. The National Convention of
ABVP will be held from November 28 to 30 in 'Bhagwan Birsa Munda Nagar', which
is being temporarily set up for the convention at the Parade Ground in
Dehradun, Uttarakhand. This year, Shrikrishna Pandey 'Azad' of Gorakhpur has
been selected for the Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar Award.
This award has been given since 1991 in the
memory of Professor Yashwantrao Kelkar, known as the architect of the Akhil
Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. He played a significant role in expanding ABVP's
work and broadening its organization. This award is a joint initiative of ABVP
and the Vidyarthi Nidhi Trust, which is committed to the advancement of
students and education. The purpose of this award is to highlight and encourage
youth social enterprise, foster a sense of gratitude for social
entrepreneurship, and inspire young Indians to engage in service. The
Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar Youth Award is given to young people who
have achieved outstanding work in areas such as education, society,
environment, and science. The award includes Rs. 1,00,000, a certificate, and a memento. This
year, the award will be presented by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh
Dhami on November 30th, the last day of the National Convention.
Shri Krishna Pandey Azad, President
of the Smile Roti Bank Foundation, selected for the award, has served over two
thousand destitute mentally ill people in Gorakhpur and surrounding areas,
providing them with medical, pharmaceutical, and rehabilitation assistance. He
has also done notable work in areas such as rehabilitation of prison inmates,
eradication of child beggary, de-addiction, sanitation, and environmental
protection. Through the operation of two rehabilitation centers and continuous
public awareness campaigns, he has brought positive change to the lives of many
children and youth. He has received numerous honors from the Uttar Pradesh
government and various organizations for his social contributions.

Vidyarthi Parishad, Virendra Singh Solanki said, The 71st National
Convention of the Vidyarthi Parishad is being held in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, a
major centre of religious and cultural values, for which the delegates coming
from every state of the country are excited. In this three-day convention, the
participating delegates will discuss important topics like education, society,
environment, sports, service. It is a matter of joy that the Honorable Chief
Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami will be present as the chief
guest in the 'Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar Youth Award Ceremony' to be held on the
last day of the convention and will interact with the participating delegates
while honoring the awardee, Shri Krishna Pandey 'Azad'.
