The Tamulpur district administration successfully organised the “Unity March” to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Addressing the gathering, District Commissioner Pankaj Chakravarty, ACS said that the unity forged by the Iron Man and the ideals of patriotism and “Swachh Bharat” shown by him must always be remembered with deep respect.

The District Commissioner flagged off the march from the Tamulpur Higher Secondary School playground to Motonga Chowk. Speaking to the media before the event, he said the march would once again inspire the entire district with a renewed sense of patriotism.

Prior to the march, a cultural programme was held at the school playground, featuring Bodo and Bihu dance performances by invited groups, a patriotic dance presentation by Kendriya Vidyalaya students and a band display by personnel of the 24th APBN. A quiz competition, an exhibition and a small-scale trade fair were also organised as part of the celebration.

Apart from District Commissioner Pankaj Chakravarty, the event was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Taburam Pegu, Colonel Abhishek Tyagi, officers and staff from various district departments, senior citizens, and school students.
