
Delhi, 21 November (H.S.): Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, on Friday chaired the 11th pre-budget consultation meeting in New Delhi, engaging with prominent experts from the infrastructure and energy sectors ahead of the Union Budget 2026-27.
The high-level meeting was part of the ministry's annual stakeholder engagement process, designed to gather insights and suggestions before finalizing the nation's financial roadmap. The deliberations were attended by top government officials, including the secretaries from the Ministries of Power, Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and Road Transport and Highways, along with the Chairman of the Railway Board and the Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India.
This consultation is one of a series of such discussions held in recent days. The Finance Minister has also engaged with representatives from other key sectors, including banking, hospitality, IT, and startups, to incorporate diverse perspectives into the budgetary framework.
These pre-budget meetings are a crucial component of the policy-making process, allowing stakeholders to voice their priorities and concerns on matters ranging from social security to employment generation and worker welfare.
