Delhi, 21 November (H.S.): The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has implemented a robust set of digital safeguards to authenticate its official summons and notices, a decisive move aimed at preventing misuse and protecting citizens from potential impersonation.
The investigative body, which operates under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, unveiled the new system on Friday to enhance transparency and security in its proceedings.Under the new protocol, all summons and notices issued by the SFIO will be digitally generated, featuring a unique Document Identification Number (DIN) and an embedded QR code.
This initiative mandates that SFIO officers issue only digitally generated communications, except in rare and exceptional circumstances, ensuring a standardized and secure chain of custody for official documents.
Recipients can now instantly verify the legitimacy of any communication through two seamless methods. The first allows for verification by simply scanning the QR code with a smartphone, while the second involves entering the unique DIN on a dedicated portal on the SFIO's official website. This dual-verification system is designed to provide immediate assurance to the public and eliminate the risk of fraudulent notices being circulated by impersonators.
This technological overhaul is further reinforced by a multi-layer internal review mechanism to oversee the issuance process, adding an extra dimension of oversight. By fortifying its communication channels, the SFIO is bolstering public trust and ensuring that its investigations into complex corporate frauds, as mandated by the Companies Act, 2013, are conducted with the highest degree of integrity and security.
