
Mumbai, 21 Nov (HS): The Western Railway recovered
Rs 121.76 crore via fines imposed on ticketless and irregular ticket
travellers. The recovery, between April and October, were the highest this
year. About 19 lakh people were booked during a special drive by the Railway
authorities. Besides travel ticket luggage without proper booking was also
detected. Last year during the same period the Western Railway had collected Rs
80.56 crore. The fine collected this year is 14 percent more than the set
target.
The Western Railway PRO, through a press note issued
has informed about collection of Rs 24
crore in October 2025. . The highest monthly collection was in May 2022,
when about Rs 26 crore were recovered.
Ahmedabad Division collected more than Rs 4 crore
from about 50,000 travellers in October 2025, recording the highest collection
so far. The Headquarters Flying Squad also collected Rs 2.20 crore in October
2025, the highest so far in a month.
The Western Railway also made several records in
daily collections. On October 17 Rs 1.40 was collected by the Western Railway.
Similarly Ahmedabad collected Rs over 38 lakh on October 18, Ratlam collected
Rs 16 lakh, and Headquarters Flying Squad collected Rs 16.30 lakh on October
19.
