Birbhum, 20 November (H.S.): The SIR process is underway across the state, and the Trinamool Congress has opened SIR camps in districts for the convenience of the public. However, a major commotion erupted at one such camp in Siuri on Thursday. Allegedly, two factions of the Trinamool Congress clashed with each other in the presence of MP Shatabdi Roy, leading to a scuffle. The situation escalated to the point where shoes were thrown, one of which landed on the MP's car.

The incident occurred in Gangte village of Koma Gram Panchayat in Siuri-2 Block, where a meeting was held regarding the SIR. Allegedly, local residents' anger erupted against local TMC president Balram Bagdi during the meeting. As the protests escalated, the situation escalated, and the dispute escalated into a physical altercation between two factions of the Trinamool Congress.

To control the situation, MP Shatabdi Roy attempted to remove Balram Bagdi from the scene by having him sit in her car, but this only further infuriated the crowd. Some people rushed to the scene armed with sticks and bamboo sticks, and shoes were thrown amid the chaos. A tense atmosphere quickly developed in the area.

However, MP Shatabdi Roy claimed that supporters of the BJP and the CPI(M) were behind the chaos, not the Trinamool Congress. According to her, it was opposition party workers who had come to create a ruckus that day. She categorically stated that this incident would have no impact on the election.

Notably, internal factionalism within the Trinamool Congress in the Siuri-2 block is nothing new. Block President Nurul Islam is considered close to District Sabhadhipati Kajal Sheikh, while local President Balram Bagdi is associated with the camp of Trinamool leader Anubrata Mandal. There have been numerous incidents of conflict and confrontation between these two factions over the past several years.
