Bharatiya Janata Party leader Swapnil Vhatte has demanded that the name of

Ahmadpur in Latur district should be changed to restore the old historical name

‘Rajur’ to the city. A Moghul ruler had changed the name of Rajur in his son

Ahmad’s name. The Mogul ruler was very cruel and harassed not only Hindus, but

also Muslims in the city.

Swapnil, who is also

contesting the election for the post of the municipal council chief raised the

demand. Besides demanding change of name of the city, he also announced his

agenda for development of the city, which includes empowerment of women to

handle management at all the levels, Entertainment Parks for the seniors and

libraries.
