Hooghly, 20 November (H.S.): While working on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, Konnagar Booth Level Officer (BLO) Tapti Biswas suddenly fell ill and collapsed. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with bleeding in the brain—a cerebral attack. She was experiencing severe stress due to the difficult task of performing her duties as a BLO.

Tapati Biswas was working as a BLO in Ward No. 19 of the Konnagar Municipality. She is a resident of Konnagar Navgram and an Anganwadi worker by profession. According to her family, she is approximately 60 years old. Doctors reported that the cerebral attack had caused numbness in the left side of her body. On Thursday, Serampore SDO Shambhudeep Sarkar visited her in the hospital and assured the family of all possible assistance. The police from the Uttarpara police station also visited her at the hospital to inquire about her well-being.

The family has made serious allegations that Tapti Biswas was under immense stress and pressure due to the heavy workload of the SIR. Her husband, Praveer Biswas, stated that distributing, submitting, and uploading forms into the app became unbearable for his wife. Internet problems prevented QR codes from scanning, causing constant disruptions in her work and causing her to suffer a mental breakdown. The constant calls from officials further exacerbated her distress.
