Bareilly, 20 Nov (HS): According to authorities,
Nida Khan, the daughter-in-law of Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC) leader Maulana
Tauqeer Raza Khan's elder brother, was attacked by an unknown guy. According to Baradari Inspector Dhananjay Pandey,
Khan reported being attacked at 10 p.m. on Tuesday. A guy dressed in black and
carrying a bag over his shoulder entered her home, pulled out a knife, and
attempted to assault her. When she began
shouting, the man left, threatening her life, Pandey said on Wednesday.
According to the inspector, Khan has blamed her
estranged husband Shiran Raza and his accomplice Tauqeer Raza for the incident,
and CCTV evidence is being checked. Pandey stated that Khan had reported
getting abusive comments on her social media accounts as well as threat calls
from internet-generated numbers.
Khan said that the IMC chief's followers had
intimidated her and requested authorities to take strong action against those
guilty. Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, a prominent member from Bareilly's Ala
Hazrat family, is presently in prison for his suspected role in the September
26 riots sparked by the 'I Love Muhammad' campaign. Clashes erupted between
police and a big crowd gathered outside a Bareilly mosque during Friday
prayers, apparently in response to Tauqeer Raza Khan's protest appeal after
police rejected permission for a demonstration in favor of the campaign. The
Ala Hazrat family is reported to be descended from Ahmed Raza Khan Barelvi,
popularly known as Ala Hazrat (1856-1921), a prominent Islamic scholar, jurist,
Sufi, and reformer.
