Hooghly, 2 November (H.S.): Political fervor is growing in West Bengal over the SIR. Meanwhile, Serampore MP Kalyan Banerjee slammed the Election Commission and the Central Government on this issue. In a social media post on Sunday, the Trinamool MP said, The SIR has never been conducted in the same manner as it is being conducted this time. The Election Commission in West Bengal set the year 2002 as the base level for SIR, but the number of booths has been increased by considering January 2025 as the base level. Banerjee questioned why the number of booths was increased by considering 2025 as the base level for SIR. The Trinamool MP clearly stated, If the number of booths is increased by considering the January 2025 voter list as the base level, then that voter list must be recognized. This is actually the BJP's silent rigging through the Election Commission. Such duplicity cannot continue.
