Guwahati, 02 November (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday held a highly productive meeting with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi, focusing on enhancing railway connectivity in the state.

During the meeting, several key projects were discussed, including the introduction of three new Amrit Bharat trains to and from Assam, a new railway line connecting Umrangso town to Lanka in Hojai district and the expedited construction of the Kokrajhar–Gelephu (Bhutan) railway link.

The two leaders also agreed to increase the number of stoppages for major trains passing through Assam to improve accessibility for passengers.

Chief Minister Sarma expressed happiness over the Railway Minister’s approval of these initiatives, terming them as significant steps toward strengthening Assam’s transport infrastructure.------
