New Delhi, 19 November (H.S.): The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) and the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) signed a landmark agreement on Wednesday to foster joint research and develop new standards and testing frameworks for emerging telecommunication technologies. This collaboration aims to advance studies in future-forward areas like 6G, optical communication, and non-terrestrial networks, while bolstering India’s participation in international standardization forums.

According to the Union Ministry of Communications, the agreement was signed by Rakesh Desai, DDG of Fixed Access at TEC, and Dr. Abhijeet Mitra, Assistant Professor at IIIT-Delhi. The signing ceremony was attended by distinguished officials, including IIIT-Delhi Director Prof. Ranjan Bose, TEC's DDG of Administration Pawan Gupta, and Prof. Vivek Ashok Bohara.

Under this partnership, the two institutions will collaborate on critical areas such as AI-driven network optimization, fault detection, traffic management, and network policy enforcement. The joint research will also extend to 5G and 6G technologies, mmWave communications, Massive MIMO (M-MIMO), and heterogeneous networks.

Furthermore, the collaboration will focus on joint studies in Free Space Optical Communication and Li-Fi technologies, which hold the potential to deliver high-speed, secure connectivity to rural and defense sectors. This strategic agreement is poised to significantly promote the development of indigenous telecommunication technologies, strengthen India's role in global standardization processes, and advance the national goal of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-reliant India).
